Exploring Kuala Lumpur – Tips and Tricks

If you are a busy family with equally busy kids, this post is for you! While pandemic is over and everyone is on the spree of revenge travelling, it can get quite overwhelming especially if you are a cautious traveller and / or have hectic work / study schedules where you might not have the luxury of spending weeks away from Singapore. We are sharing some tips and tricks that we have gathered from our recent Kuala Lumpur trip – fast, fabulous and yet truly relaxing for the entire family.

Get Your Documents Ready

It can be such a dampener if you don’t have required documents for the trip. Renewal of passport, visa requirements for Malaysia – all these things need to be done beforehand to avoid disappointment. Fortunately, for us, documents were already ready.

Zero In On The Destination

Singapore offers an unique vantage point to its residents because you can literally fly anywhere in the world from here very conveniently. Destinations in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are always on our radar due to the ease of travel and you can plan very quick trips to these countries without thinking too much.

Malaysia in particular is our favourite because we can even drive there seamlessly. So this time, we decided to visit Kuala Lumpur! It’s a big city, lot of shopping and sightseeing opportunities and something that’s interesting for all in the family were the main reasons to visit KL for us.

Mode Of Transport

Plane, train or bus or car – Accessibility to Kuala Lumpur is very straightforward from Singapore. We preferred bus this time because last minute deals were great for the bus. Also, we love to non-stop look out of the window to catch the scenic views of endless palm trees that Malaysia offers. It’s very blissful and yes, you can take power naps that you don’t generally get in day to day routine.

When you are travelling by road, always keep minimum 2-3 hours extra in hand as sometimes the jam and queues can get crazy at the causeway when you are entering another country.

Hotel

Where are you going to stay – is a very important decision. We choose hotel that’s cozy, comfortable yet quiet and yet near to most of the attractions. KL is a big city and its suburbs offer lot of sightseeing options too. From that angle, we chose Oakwood Hotel and Residence Kuala Lumpur which offered us perfect stay exactly like what we wanted.

Sightseeing

Kuala Lumpur fondly called as KL has many attractions that are well-loved by tourists all over the world. You have to filter all the possible places that you can visit in KL and then shortlist the ones that you must visit. Factors like your interests, number of people accompanying with you, number of days you are staying in the city and your budget.

We wanted to make the most of our stay in KL but at the same time, we were clear that we won’t rush and run around places and get physically and mentally tired. After all, for any trip, the main motive should be to make great memories and not just tick off bucket list items.

I must give complete credit to Klook because a simple step like downloading their app made this whole trip such a breeze for my family. We all know Klook right? But still for the uninitiated, Klook connects you to the world of things to do and places to see. It’s an app and website that makes traveller’s life extremely easy by puttng booking hotels, buying attractions tickets and many more experiences right on your fingertips.

Exploring KL with Klook

The weather was expected to be very hot during our trip to Kuala Lumpur and we had 2 kids with us who had just recovered from a bad bout of flu. So the worried mom in me was already panicking. We didn’t want to miss all the main attractions in and around KL and at the same time, didn’t want to burn in hot Sun. Hmmm, what to do?

Sunway Lagoon, Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, Historical places and shopping malls – how to visit all these places in the scorching heat? When I started browsing for Kuala Lumpur experiences on Klook, I found the perfect solutions that took away all my worries and we pulled off a great trip on our terms and at our desired pace.

This is what I did:

Step 1: Start by searching for Kuala Lumpur on Klook app / website

Step 2: Browse for numerous convenient tours and experiences it offers

Step 3: Book what suits your requirements.

Step 4: Receive confirmation via email.

Step 5: ENJOY your trip!

That’s it! I was quite apprehensive especially because I had booked private tours. But Klook has amazing choices of tour operators who ensure smooth and professional experience.

Let the picures speak. I’m sharing some fun places we explored. All the bookings I did via Klook.
