Our visit to Parkway East Paediatric Clinic’s Dr Mohana was truly enlightening. Like I mentioned in my last article, we got Eeshaa’s skin prick test done and got answers to all our FAQs about kids’ allergies. All thanks to Dr Mohana who specialises in the treatment of paediatric allergic conditions and respiratory allergies. She also offers dust mite immunotherapy as treatment for allergic rhinitis.
Since Shrihaan was a child, we observed that he starts sneezing, gets a runny nose and rashes whenever the weather changes or he is in a dusty environment. He was prescribed inhalers that we administer using a spacer mask. When we visited Dr Mohana, we consulted her about the dosage of the inhalers and wanted to validate the overall process of using them. We also requested for Dr Mohana to check Shrihaan’s overall health and well-being. Parkway East Paediatric Clinic’s overall ambiance is very soothing and kids are sure to love it. Eeshaa – my elder child was quite keen to talk to Dr Mohana and asked her quite a few questions about allergies in general. My younger child Shrihaan is only 8 years old and tends to be scared around strangers. We were not sure how he would behave around Dr Mohana. Our worries were unfounded! Dr Mohana really knows how to make friends with kids of different age groups and that’s why Shrihaan’s allergy consultation turned out to be easy and fuss-free.
Dr Mohana did routine health checks for Shrihaan first. She checked his nose, ears and lungs.
I wanted to reconfirm whether we were using the spacer mask and inhaler pumps correctly. Dr Mohana elaborated more about the whole process for us.
Glad that she demonstrated the RIGHT way to use spacer mask and inhaler pumps because we realised that we had been cleaning the spacer mask incorrectly! Also, she suggested some alternate ways of using the spacer mask.
It was an eye-opener because incorrect use of medicines or inadequate doses of pumps significantly affect their effectiveness. In fact, it can have adverse effects on kids’ health too.
Overall, my kids loved Dr Mohana. As a mom, I will definitely recommend this paed to my friends also because she puts kids at ease, strikes a chord with them and comes across as an expert for kids’ allergies. Also, she is very patient and takes time to answer all the queries of the parents. Thumbs up, Mam!
