Soba with a Twist and Soya with Nuts

Now-a-days, it’s O for Organic when it comes to food that my family eats. Whenever I go for grocery shopping, my eyes search for Organic labels.

My biggest concerns when shopping for Organic food –

  1. They are way too costly!

  2. Are they really, purely organic?

  3. Not too many organic products and their varieties are available in usual supermarkets that I frequent.

So generally I end up buying some stuff that is organic and some stuff that is NOT organic. For quite some time, I was wondering why there is no One-Stop-Shop for All Things Organic. Why, Why??

Oh, ignorant me! There is one place in Singapore which is catering to people who are trying to adopt Organic Lifestyle . Precisely speaking they are there for 25 “glorious” years – long before many of us even heard of any organic lingo. Rang a bell? Yes, it’s Nature’s Glory!!

I first heard about Nature’s Glory when I reviewed Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap. Finally, visited their outlet some days back and Thank God I visited it. It’s like a treasure for Organic lovers. Vegetables, Lentils, Pasta, Skincare, Milk, Medicines and lots more – everything is ORGANIC there. Strictly checked and certified by Nature’s Glory owners!

It was a Friday meet-up of some bloggers at Nature’s Glory outlet in Outram Park and we all thoroughly enjoyed the info session, shop tour, the organic food they served and above all, the hospitality of gentle, homely people behind Nature’s Glory ♥

Meet Mr. Peter Lim – the mind and brain behind Nature’s Glory who started it 25 years back. By the way, on a side note, they are celebrating silver jubilee and you might get some great promos and offers, so do visit their website!

Mr. Lim shared with us his life story and how switching to organic food made a sea-change to his health. He also explained about their stringent procedures that ensure nothing but the best comes to the customers.

We also met his wife, son and daughter-in-law who are equally passionate about their venture. The ladies doled out some yummiest organic beehoon, beans soup, Red bean Ice Cream and ginger latte made from BonSoy Soya Milk.

Nature’s Glory is also into water filteration system and nano energy as well.

After the sharing and nomnom session, we toured the shop.

Well-stocked, clean and well-stacked shop I must say. What a huge range of products – fresh airflown veggies and fruits are available and so is fresh organic bread. Organic toiletries and supplements can be found and also granola bars, healthy snacks. Never saw so much of organic stuff at the same place before.

Now comes the cooking challenge! That day before we came back, Nature’s Glory gave us one goodie bag with cooking supplies and we were given an interesting task to cook something yummy.

I got soba noodles, Bonsoy soya milk and a few other snacks and candies. Snacks and candies were gobbled down by kids in no time! Lol…

So what should I cook now? Soba I had tasted in salads before but never used it for our own cooking! After some thinking, I decided to give Soba noodles an Italian twist and made Soba Aglio Olio out of it!

Soba Aglio Olio

Prep time: 10 mins | Cooking time: 10 mins

Pictorial Recipe below:

It tasted goood! Health of organic Soba and taste of Italian herbs together worked very well. Remember, Soba gets cooked very fast so don’t overcook it. 4-5 mins of boiling is more than enough…

SoyaNut Smoothie

Prep time: 5 mins | Cooking time: 5 mins

Recipe:

I had Bonsoy and I had 2 organic granola bars from Nature’s Glory…Hmmm, how about combining them and making SoyaNut Smoothie? Yay, interesting!

  • So yeah, I crushed the granola bars, added a few more chia seeds and small amount of Bonsoy into it and blended it to form thick paste.
  • Later, I added more Bonsoy and my smoothie was ready. Fast and Furiously tasty. I could have added an apple or a banana as well. Next time would do that. Garnished with pure spanish saffaron.

Kids loved it. They are generally a bit lazy to chew nuts but this smoothie packed all the soya goodness with nutty punch in one glass.

I am waiting for my current Nature’s Glory haul to be over and am going to visit the outlet again to indulge in Owesome Organic shopping experience. You can of course buy online and get it home-delivered as well.

  1. I too have to mix my purchases of organic + non organic products because I can’t find everything organic easily. You are right that they can be rather pricey, so even if I can find everything organic, it sure if I can afford them all. LOL

  4. I loooove organic food!!!! It’s just a lot more expensive that the other ordinary food choices in the market but they really pay you dividends in terms of your health. Kudos to going organic. I am doing my best to maintain an organic food lifestyle. I just wonder if there is also organic beehon here in our supermarkets? Beehon is one of my most favorite dishes in the world! Yummm!

  5. I’m a big fan of organic food. When there are invitations and talks about organic thingy, no matter how busy I am I always attend. I just don’t know why, but I always find it interesting when someone talk about organic. Basically, it all turns to how we should embrace a healthy lifestyle.

  6. These healthy food items really look very good to eat and easy to prepare. 25 years in the business means they are serious about their merchandise. I did not catch a statement about the cost though. I am guessing the prices are not as expensive as you thought?
