Aye aye Captain, I ran in the First SpongeBob Run ever in Singapore!

You, me, all kids, everyone loves SpongeBob SquarePants and his goofy gang of friends of Bikini Bottom! So when we wrote about the first-ever run of SpongeBob SquarePants and did a shout-out on FB and IG, we got fantabulaous response.

When I collected the Run kit for us, kids and hubby were all so excited to meet SpongeBob and his friends. But this cold and cough virus, when it strikes, it strikes the whole family. So, kids and hubby all had running nose, cough etc. and strictly restricted to indoors. Love them for letting me go and run on their behalf!!

So there I was, wearing the bright yellow Race tees and ready to run my first-ever race!! Seriously, I remember running only in school days 🙁

When I reached Sentosa Express, there was this amazing crowd of SpongeBob lovers all painting the town yellow! Special arrangement was made for all us to reach the Race venue on the beautiful Siloso beach. This guy participated also??

Hmmm, beach, weather, evening was all very conducive to run but part of the race route was SAND. Aha, that’s the catch – running in the sand would be challenging. But what is race without some fun and some challenge? SpongeBob Run had both elements nicely combined.

For kids and adults like me, 800 metres short run and for true-blue race lovers 5 km route. The whole beach was ready and welcoming us with banners, giant Inflated characters of SpongeBob, Patrick, Pineapple home of SpongeBob and so on. So many photo ops!

Information counter, First Aid, Snacks counter and all other necessary booths and helpful volunteers  were there to ensure all was well.

I saw SpongeBob Runners of all ages equally enthusiastic to run and make merry. Met some wonderful mom bloggers as well…

SpongeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob SquarePants and…the run began…It was a fun run so take your time, run at the pace you could and achieve your medals. I ran, brisk-walked, panted and panted while running in the sand and must have lost some stubborn calories in the process. I missed my hubby and babies a lot 🙁 but was glad that at least I could run and got a chance to bring home medals for them 🙂

Fffinally, completed the run and yippee, got medals. My respect for all the runners gone a few notches up for sure!!

SpongeBob Run Singapore gave me the boost to participate in more such races. I loved the overall co-ordination and arrangement of this event. Looking forward to more such events from them… 🙂 🙂
