Inspired by the famous comic strip Little Orphan Annie which first ran in the New York Daily News in 1924, this uplifting rags-to-riches story of plucky young Annie’s journey from the hard-knock New York orphanage to the luxurious home of billionaire businessman Oliver Warbucks, has become one of the best-loved family musicals of all time.
BASE Entertainment Asia brings us The U.S. National Tour of ANNIE, now in its second smash year, to play at The MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands from 24 August 2016 for a limited season. Directed by original lyricist and director Martin Charnin for the 19th time, this production of ANNIE is a brand new physical incarnation of the iconic Tony Award®-winning original.
The beloved score for ANNIE includes “Maybe”, “It’s the Hard Knock Life”, “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”, “Easy Street”, “I Don’t Need Anything But You” and the eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow”.
Cast, Crew and Creatives:
ANNIE remains one of the biggest Broadway musical hits ever. The original production opened 0n 21 April, 1977 at the Alvin Theatre where it ran for 2,377 performances before closing in 1983. The production features a 25 member company: in the title role of Annie is Heidi Gray, an 11-year-old actress from the Augusta, GA area, making her tour debut. Gilgamesh Taggett stars as Oliver Warbucks. In the role of Miss Hannigan is Lynn Andrews. ANNIE has a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin. All three authors received 1977 Tony Awards® for their work. Choreography is by Liza Gennaro, who has incorporated selections from her father Peter Gennaro’s 1977 Tony Award®-winning choreography.
Did you know over 170 talented youngsters auditioned to play the roles of orphans in the US National Tour of Annie in Singapore? Six lucky children were chosen. During Media Call, I got this lovely opportunity to talk to them. All these kids including the girl who plays Annie are extremely matured and in love with their art. Hats off!!
And…Here is Annie and her Daddy!!
During the Media Call event, we also got to capture the cast performing in full costume.
Am sure you can’t wait to watch Annie!! Quickly book your tickets because the show is on only till 4th September 🙂 🙂

Hi RainbowDiaries,
I would love to bring my daughter to watch this musical play. ANNIE THE MUSICAL is one of the best-loved musicals that I wouldn’t want to give it a miss. My daughter loves the songs “Tomorrow ” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life” . I personally love the role of Annie played by Heidi Gray. Her voice and singing is absolutely fantastic. She is such a talented girl who can sing, dance and act so well. This is a once in a life time opportunity to catch this awesome musical performance with my daughter before it comes to an end.

I love musicals! Youth nowadays are so confident and it’s great that they are exposed to the performing arts
ah a stage show, miss this a lot, i need to go to these performances more often.
woww.. i would definitely love to watch this show, but too bad only in Singapore =(
I never see annie in my whole life! Wish I can attend and have a watch with my kid in future 🙂
Wow! It is a great performance~ would like to watch live show!
This is a great medium for kids to showcase their talent in the movie world and I’m pleased Annie did justice to that. Lessons learnt from other kids and parents will encourage more wannabe ‘Annie’s’ to start shaping up
Annie is such a classic character! I recall watching it when I was much younger and loved it.
The character is so lively and loves the main small actress in this performance! It must have been the great performance from Little Red Orphan!
I heard about this, glad you’ve managed to catch it! Watching kids perform and enjoying their performance should be one of the joyful thing of a musical~
Aww, I always love to watch this kind of stage show performance!
What a great performance. I haven’t attend this kind of performance before.
Wanted to see this so much! But….. Too bad I wasn’t in Singapore
Wow musicals has been something I have not tried yet . Haha . My friends are raving about it on Facebook thoughz

It;s nice to see the story of Annie relived in Singapore. It’s just a timeless classic.
I wish I could watch Annie. I might just hop over to Singapore. It is not that far, after all.
I am not really into broadways but it never hurt to give it a try, right?
wow..i wanna to see this!! Too bad i am not stay at singapore!!
It’s one of my most favorite stories! It’s exciting to know that they are once again showing this in theaters, there’s a lot of lessons that children can learn from this show! It would be a great opportunity for parents to take their kids to see this.
Annie is a classic. I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun watching it! Especially since you probably know all the songs, too. I read Fred’s comment above. I didn’t know Lea Salonga used to play Annie. How time flies. =)
This is really cool.. BUt i am not in Singapore..
I’ve seen Annie once when I was younger, would like to see this with the kids
What a coincidence. Upcoming in Resorts World Manila is our very own local production of “Annie” with an all-Filipino cast. This show has received a lot of publicity because of the two girls they have picked to be Annie. I hope I would be able to watch and review. Of course, it will be recalled that the Filipina Broadway and West End star Lea Salonga broke into show business as Annie.
Watching Broadways or musical plays have always been a great form of entertainment. They are often well-produced and very informative. I would like to see this.
