About Mint Museum
MINT (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) Museum of Toys houses a world-class collection of vintage toys and childhood memorabilia in an international award-winning contemporary building on Seah Street.
Its mission is to provide a journey of personal, cultural and historical rediscovery through moments of imagination and nostalgia with toys.
The museum began as an idea in the mind of founding CEO Mr Chang Yang Fa. Driven by his passion for design and the arts, Mr Chang, who is an avid toy collector, imagined a space devoted to presenting vintage toys and childhood memorabilia; a space where visitors can also rediscover the past and revisit wonderful childhood memories.
When Mr Chang founded MINT Museum of Toys in 2007, it was the first museum in the world known to be purpose-built for toys, and to date, it remains to be the only one.
The Enchanting World of Toys
MINT’s collection is made up of an extensive series of toys and objects – most in mint condition – from over 40 countries. The collections vary from toy figures to games, and soft toys to vehicles. Highly sought after items and valuable rare pieces, such as the Alice Doll (UK, 1930s) by Farnell Alpha Toy, also make up a large part of the collection.
Since its inauguration, the museum has expanded its collection, amassing over 50,000 items, 8,000 of which are curated for both permanent and temporary displays.
The main displays are spread across six levels:

Toys, toys everywhere…Cute toys, cuddly toys, funny toys, scary toys, boy toys, girls toys, cartoon toys, dolls toys, fairy tale toys, movie toys…Check some of my pics to get some idea. Actually, pics won’t do justice! You have to visit it to experience it.
I loved their visitor service. The kind of knowledge the staff has about these toys deserves a special mention – very passionate about their work. My daughter must have asked all the possible questions and the staff answered all of them and more with a smile.
Mint Museum has a shop where you can get some miniature versions of the toys showcased in the museum. We bought this very unique carousel.

Mint Carnival – a bouquet of Workshops
There is more to Mint Museum than just toys! Mint museum conducts many creative workshops. My kids took part in one of the workshops and loved the process and result ♥ ♥ ♥.

Learn how to stitch your very own soft toy using basic and kid-friendly stitching materials. At the end of the workshop, young participants will get to bring home their very own hand-made Furry Friends.

Workshop doesn’t cover visit to the museum.
I’ve only been to the Mint Museum once, and that was many years back when they first opened. It seems that they have more in their collection. Thanks for sharing the review, I am tempted to bring my girl to visit.

Nice little giveaway. Will be good for kids who likes handicraft… They should do such stuff more instead of playing the iPad all the time!
How very interesting! My kids will surely be enamored by the histories of these toys (at least my two older ones would be). The youngest will most likely want to touch a lot of them.
Mint museum indeed has got some beautiful collection and some of the sections you won’t like to set out.
Never knew about this museum before. So nice, should be part of our next itinerary if we get back to Singapore. I’m sure my boys will like that interesting Superhero workshop.

I was able to visit MINT last year since it was just nearby my hotel in Carlton. They do have a lot of interesting toys there.

Nice toys! It’s good to have a museum like this. Some kids won’t even recognize some of the characters anymore, like Popeye. It brings back childhood memories. I can imagine parents taking their kids here and telling them about their childhood. This can bridge parents with their kids.
These are so cute. Just seeing these toys makes me want to be young again. And these are great workshops for kids. You are so nice to give away free attendance to the workshops. Kudos to you!
What kid wouldn’t want to see all of these! That’s a lot of toys, really, and I’m sure the kids had a blast checking out the toys, especially the ones that were made years ago.

Oh, wow, this sounds like such a great museum for children! I am a grown up and still want to go play with all the toys, so I am sure children would absolutely love it.

OMG! A toy musuem! We could truly get lost in here. I bet nostalgia is true here and you spend all day like “where has the time gone!?” Wish I could go!
