Bollywood HOLI 2016
Festival of Colors, Celebration of Life
After chilly winters, when the Spring approaches and brings new life to plants…When temperature starts becoming warmer…Holi approaches!
Holi is a spring festival celebrated in India. It symbolizes the festival of Colors or the festival of sharing love. Though Holi has its roots in ancient Hindu culture, it is now a global festival celebrated in many parts of the world.
Holi is celebrated over 2 days. First day or rather night is devoted for “Holika Dahan” or “Holika Bonfire”. This is considered as burning evils and purifying our minds and surroundings. Holika is a Goddess and all pray to her for peace and well-being.
The next morning – Dhuleti or Festival of Colors begin. Friends and Family gather and play with dry colors and colored water. There are water guns and balloons to fight the friendly color battles. All forget their differences and enjoy the fun and frolic.
No festival can be complete without traditional dishes! Yummylicious Puran Polis (Rotis stuffed with Jaggery and Gram flour), Gujias (Sweet Dumplings) and loads of other delicacies are prepared. What a bliss! Colors, Water and lip-smacking delights! There is a special drink called “Thandai” that is the highlight of the Holi event.
Now no need to be in India to celebrate this grand festival of Colors. In Singapore too, you can immerse yourself in the colors of love, joy and have complete family fun.
