3D2N Itinerary to Resorts World Genting for an amazing Family Getaway

What’s life without travel?! That’s why my family try to steal in some time in the otherwise jam-packed routine of ours. We plan short getaways mostly because they are the most convenient ones, we can pack light and we don’t have to travel far. Lots of you have asked me on Instagram, Facebook and on WhatsApp about the places I will recommend for a family getaway that are near to Singapore and still are high on entertainment, play and food quotient. So here you go – Read on my 3D2N Itinerary to Resorts World Genting and plan your trip there soonest!

Resorts World Genting

Day 1 Early Morning:

Catch bus that takes you straight to Genting Highlands. Roughly around 6 hours travel if there is no jam at the checkpoints and in-between and you will be in the mountains of Genting Highlands already.

Expert Tip: Check whether the bus directly goes to Genting Highlands. Some buses you have to change at KLIA and then you have to catch another one OR Some buses can’t climb the mountain steep and you have to shift to a smaller bus. Frankly speaking that can get a tad cumbersome. So book the bus that straight goes to Resorts World Genting.

Day 1 Afternoon:

Welcome to Resorts World Genting. By this time, you are already feeling refreshed even after a journey of 6 hours. The mountain breeze weaves its magic and no one can escape from it. We enjoyed the turns and the curves and the depth of the valley so much.

Time to check-in Resorts World Genting Theme Park Hotel. There is a choice of seven hotels in Resorts World Genting and we preferred Theme Park Hotel because it’s fun, decor is quirky and kids will love it. Another vantage point is that the hotel is located at the doorsteps of the Arena of Stars and SkyAvenue, the resort’s latest lifestyle mall which is a home to many attractions and food choices.

Here is our spacious room. If you have slightly older kids and are looking for really comfortable place for all in the family, then choose Sixers like how we did. A swanky 300 sq ft space with three Queen-sized beds.

Expert Tip: Theme Park hotel offers 4 different types of rooms and do take time to decide which one will be the best for your family. Click here.

Okay, we checked-in, freshened up and decided to shut up the growling tummies with Jom Makan Street Food. Malaysia’s food court culture comes alive at Jom Makan and you must visit it for some of the authentic-most flavors.

Expert Tip: It’s Halal food court if you have that dietary requirement and vegetarians, for you, I will highly recommend Sri Paandi Curry House.

Burp. Tummies were full and now we were fully recharged to explore the fascinating Skytropolis Funland. Endless fun is guaranteed in this fairytale world spanning over 400,000 sq ft with more than 20 new rides. Kids and adults will enjoy it equally I bet.

Expert Tip: Rides are available for different thrill levels. For kids, Boo boo bump works the best and for the entire family you must try Royal Carousel. For serious adrenaline fun, go try Music Express. It’s too fast and furious!

Next stop was The Void. This came as such a surprise and I want to go back to Resorts World Genting soonest to try this at least 2-3 times more. I mean where else you get to play the character of a Sci-fi movie and be on the battleship or burst the ghosts?? Amazing experience is promised with The VOID – most immersive hyper virtual reality experience in the world. How virtual can be so real that you can see, smell, touch and experience the impossible?! Truly state-of-the-art and hi-tech, The Void is something that adults and older kids must must try.

Expert Tip: I have motion sickness but even I could do this without any issues.

In the cool weather of Genting Highlands, one tends to get hungry very fast. So were we! Dinner tonight was at High Line Roof Top Market. High Line is casual dining at its best and some of the options to try out are:

  • High Line Fish Market
  • Burgers & Shots
  • Carnivore Corner
  • Jon Bing
  • Asian Heroes
  • Back in Time Bar
  • Brooklyn Brewery

Expert Tip: It’s a roof top so do watch the skyline. We spotted double rainbow!

Whole day of travel and exploring the attractions was slowly showing up on our bodies and faces and it was time to go free n easy. Ladies, don’t forget to shop in Skyavenue mall. Quite nice stuff and that too in MYR – not bad not bad at all.

Lights out because we were tired and the weather was so cool and soothing.

Day 2: Rise and Shine

The view that Theme Park Hotel offers is simply unforgettable. Bed of clouds, Mountains, Valley, Greenery all over – where else you get to see in our usual city life? So morning we got up and spent some time in soaking up the nature.

Breakfast we preferred to have at Jom Makan Street Food. By now, Sri Paandi Curry House had become our favorite place.

What’s next? It was time to go crazy with Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Adventureland.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Odditorium is really an unbelievable collection of weirdest and wackiest things curated from all over the world and it’s a jaw-dropping experience. See it to believe it I will say.

4D Trick Eye Museum is another crazy place full of photo ops and we spent quite some time there too.

Kids are not going to keep quiet until you take them to Jurassic Research Center. This place takes you back 65 million years ago, into the land before time when dinosaurs ruled the earth. You get to get up close and personal with these oversized reptiles in person, explore their fossils and so on.

Those of you who are not faint-hearted, do try Eagle Landing Zipline.

Expert Tip: Take out at least 3-4 hours of time if you wish to leisurely and in detail explore these attractions.

Hungry hungry hungry again and this time we decided to give justice to the delights of Medan Selera. It’s the largest Halal dining space and offers a tempting selection of rice dishes, noodles, snacks, and cuisines inspired by Western, Asian and Middle-Eastern cooking.

Expert Tip: True-blue foodies, you must visit Medan Selera. Ask for their mint chutney and have a chat with the friendly chef.

Where to go now? When in Resorts World Genting, how can you miss the ride in that famed Glass-floor Gondola? So yes, that was next on our agenda. The thrill where you feel you are flying in the air and there’s nothing between you and the clouds is altogether a different one. The gondola stops at different stations and shopaholics, get you branded stuff craving satisfied at Genting Premium Outlets. Such awesome bargains!

Still, I would say the real surprise we got when we decided to get down to at Awana SkyWay’s Chin Swee Station to explore Chin Swee Caves Temple. It was such a calming experience.

Expert Tip: We visited this temple around the overlap of evening and night and it definitely added to the meditative value of this whole experience.

Mesmerized…we later headed back to the hotel. Dinner for today was planned at Motorino. We are pizza lovers and Motorino churns out fresh, authentic, Italian, Wood fired Pizza. Wow!

Expert Tip: Ask for their secret chili oil and local tweaks to the Italian varieties.

Redtail by Zouk is a fun place for beer and alcohol lovers. You can kick off the night with a large collection of party games, including life-size games of beer pong, jenga, and snakes and ladders. For families like us, we explored their Karaoke room. Imagine singing Shah Rukh Khan song…

Lights out! Time to sleep…

Day 3: Bye bye Resorts World Genting, Home Sweet Home

In the morning, we had a quick breakfast at Eatopia which is a small cakes, pastries and sandwiches joint right near the registration counter of Theme Park Hotel.

We again went to Skyavenue, did some random shopping and it was time to head back. Quick but truly refreshing trip had come to an end and work n school was calling us.

Expert Tip: Families travelling with elderly or kids, you must know the locations of 24-hr well-equipped clinics at Resorts World Genting. There are 2 of them and you should not worry.
