Unveiling of Bollywood Legend, Sridevi’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore

Team RainbowDiaries is just back from this very memorable event of Unveiling of Bollywood Legend, Sridevi’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore and we are full of emotions. We were invited as media for this exclusive event and it was truly an honour.

Mention of Sridevi and we all can just go on and on about her gigantic contribution to the world of Indian Cinema. Her beauty, her acting prowess is simply superlative and she will always be an institution to all who want to make a career in cinema. Regarded as the first female superstar of Indian cinema, Sridevi redefined the importance of female leads in India’s largely male-dominated film industry and inspired numerous actresses to follow in her lead.

Crafted in memory of the legendary actress, the figure was unveiled by Sridevi’s husband and Indian film producer, Boney Kapoor, and their two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.

The family was joined by Sridevi’s closest relatives – her sister Srilatha
Yanger, brother-in-law Sanjay Ramaswamy and Boney Kapoor’s brother; actor and producer, Sanjay Kapoor – as well as Noreen Khan from the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) and other distinguished guests from India and overseas.

The only one of its kind in the world and an exclusive addition to Madame Tussauds Singapore, the figure will be placed at the Mr. India set in the Ultimate Film Star Experience (UFSE) zone, accompanied by a special memorial wall where Sridevi’s fans can leave their tribute messages.

As a part of the event, Boney Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, were available for interview and how beautifully they answered our questions.

Here are some exclusive pics and videos from the event for you all.

Her wax figure is based on a still from her iconic performance of the song “Hawa Hawai” from the movie Mr. India. A cult classic, Mr. India holds special meaning for Sridevi and her family as the film was produced by her husband Boney Kapoor. The movie was the second highest-grossing Indian film in 1987 and remains hugely popular 32 years on.

The newly launched UFSE spanning 2,500 sq ft, brings guests on a journey through the glitz and glamour of Indian cinema culture from the moment they step through the doors. The world’s largest celebration of Indian superstars, this unique experience utilises cutting-edge technology like Kinect and AR to give visitors the chance to be part of the limelight! Don’t miss it on your next visit to Madame Tussauds Singapore.

Sridevi is such an icon and it was so sad that she passed away at a young age. This is a fitting tribute to her effervescence.
