Hello all once again! The weather is quite nice today, is it not? I was casually lounging and taking in the blue sky when suddenly I feel like I want to do some how-to articles. On my WhatsApp group too, many people have shown interest about such how-to and step-by-step articles. I was browsing pics of my latest travel and then, the idea struck – VOILA! I’m going to share with you how to make your flight booking with Traveloka.
Why Traveloka? Ah, it was one of the Online Travel Agency aka OTA I visited, and I find some quite interesting features you might want to know about. So, if you are a first-time traveler, then, bless it be, I’m going to help you through it all.
Step 1: Gotta have the App, Duh~
Are you a mobile or a desktop person? Doesn’t matter because either way, it’s pretty much the same process flow. So, if you want to make cheap flight booking online, you need to have access to the platform, in this case, you gotta have the app or the site in front of your screen?
Do you have it now? Cool! We’re on a roll now!
Okay, so we’re taking Scoot as our lab rat for today’s how-to. Why? Well, just feeling the national pride there. Anyways, before we start with scouting the ticket, here are some few features in Traveloka you might want to get used to with:
In Desktop version:
You will have four types of product in the top menu bar: Flights, Hotels, Airport Transfer, Xperience and Flight + Hotel. At the lower part, you can also see some ongoing deals.
In App version:
You won’t see a menu bar; they are more icon aligned (I coined that term myself). You will have the same products with additional features like Price Alerts and Flight Status. At the lower part, you will also see ongoing promos happening.
For today, we are focusing on Flights so that the tour will be limited to that. Hey, if you want another how-to on the other products, let me know in the comment section!
Step 2: Let’s Start Scouting Tickets!
Before we can book scoot flight online, you can feel free to explore the endless searches in the Flight tab. Let’s just assume you have a destination in mind so that it will take you the list of airlines overall. You can filter out your searches based on these options:
- Transit – If you’re looking for a direct or X amount of transit flight. You can also choose your transit points as well.
- Time – If you like a specific time period for your flight.
- Airline – The type of airlines you are looking for.
- More filters – This is much specific if you’re opt for it, they include Price range per passenger, Facilities and Flight Preference.
You can play around with the Filter options to get the kind of flight or deals you are looking for. It’s pretty neat.
If you have found your chosen ticket, but then you have this thought “I still have time to book, what if I book now and then the price changes?” Well, you are in luck because you can save your searches and it will occasionally notify you of any price changes with that specific flight.
This is also where the Price Alert feature comes in handy in App. You can set up all the necessary details you need like the usual booking details (Destination, Passenger, Seat Class), the travel date – it can either be an exact date or flexible dates, flight preferences and the kind of notification you would want to receive, either through push notification or email. You can also determine how frequent you want to be notified. Again, pretty neat, huh?
Once you have all that done, you can sit back, relax, and when they notify you of a good deal, you can proceed to book without having to go back to putting your booking details all over again.
Step 3: Time to Say Goodbye to That Money of Yours T_T
Now, it’s time to get to the fun part. Well, it’s not so fun when we’re giving our money away BUT, it’s for a wonderful experience, so, TAKE MY MONEY! Another thing why I say it’s fun because, in the payment phases, you will find loads of helpful stuff to ease the paying process.
Okay, so in general, Traveloka is one of the OTA that provides various payment methods that come in handy for us. I listed down the payment methods below for your reference:
- Credit/Debit
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Amex
- Internet Banking
- Maybank2u
- CIMB Clicks
- Public Bank PBe
- RHB Now
- Hong Leong
- Bank Islam
- AmOnline
- FPX for other banks
- 7-Eleven
- PayPal
So, before you land right in the payment page, you’ll be going through the usual booking information fill up and confirmation. One good thing I find to be very convenient is that Traveloka members will have that autosave information that will autofill during your booking phases.
The big kicker here is that you don’t have to fill up your details manually, but simply choose the passenger name you are booking for, either for yourself or others, and the other information like passport number, mobile number, etc. will appear immediately. Easy, right? You can put as save as many passenger details as you can if I’m not mistaken.
One click to get you through the payment phase in a breeze.
Step 4: Sit Back and Relax
The final step of all when you’ve completed your booking is to sit back and relax. Traveloka will send you the e-flight ticket and receipt of your purchase to your email within minutes. You will have all the information you need in the attachments.
That’s pretty much the summary of it all. Pretty cut down, I know, but one thing I get from Traveloka is the process is pretty much linear and straightforward. You won’t get confused.
Let me know how your first flight booking journey goes! Travelling is fun, hence, go to travel! See you guys soon.
