Q. What are exhibitors looking forward to achieving at the Sprout event?

Nadine Keller, Founder, Aerospring Gardens [Urban Farming exhibitor]
We’re excited to be taking part in Sprout, Singapore’s largest Farm-To-People Festival and to be able to showcase our product to the general public interested in fresh, local food, urban farming and growing their own produce right at home.

Philbert Khoo, Chief Operation Officer, Agrivo Mycosciences (Mushroom Kingdom) [Local Farm exhibitor]
I’m looking forward to spreading the goodness of mushrooms and showcasing that growing your own mushrooms is a simple, fun and rewarding process for the whole family!

Joline Tang, Founder, The Sustainability Project [Artisanal Brand exhibitor]
I think for me it would be Singaporeans coming to recognize and support the local community and small business owners and learning more about the farmer to market process.

Chen Shiqin, Founder, Haru: Smart Food for Kids [Specialty Food exhibitor]
For Sprout, we look forward to having great conversations with other like-minded parents about food for the little ones and what it means to be a modern-day parent. Of course, we’re also excited to share more about Haru’s journey. We want all parents out there to know that now, they have the ability to serve up fresh and tasty, all-natural meals for their kids in as little as ten minutes.

2. What are the different line-ups at Sprout? Any specific activities planned for kids at Sprout?

Sprout brings together over 55 specially curated local organizations ranging from farm growers, urban farming, artisanal and speciality food for its first and Singapore’s largest farmers’ market located in the heart of the city at Suntec Singapore. Through this event, we wish to bridge the gap between local farmers and consumers, to bring our farms closer to people, and to raise awareness and shine the spotlight on urban agriculture and good sustainable food. At this two-day festival, Sprout brings something for everyone with an exciting line-up of sessions namely, Sprout & BUY, Sprout & EAT, Sprout & COOK, Sprout & GROW, Sprout & PLAY and Sprout & LEARN.

The two-day festival provides plenty of fun-filled kids activities. We have a specialty food exhibitor Haru, who specializes in smart food for kids, hosting a live cooking demo session for parents and kids. Haru will also be presenting ticketed hands-on parent & child workshops, where you can get inspired with new breakfast recipes for the kiddos that are nutritious and quick to prepare. Here’s the registration for this kid-friendly workshop: https://www.eventbrite.sg/e/sprout-2018-breakfast-for-little-champs-7-julytickets-47058991711

Jurong Frog Farm is also bringing their farm to the city and they will be hosting workshops for kids and adults to learn all about the chronicle of a frog’s life cycle and get lucky to take photos with the frogs on your head (farmers hat included)! You can register here for the workshop:

At the Sprout & PLAY area – we also have Happy Castle who will be setting up a farmer’s market play area for kids to explore and be entertained.

Be sure to make the most of the weekend by learning all about urban farming, purchasing the freshest produce and farming tools, and picking up some nifty tricks at the workshops to grow your own food at the comfort of your home! All workshops require registration and details can be found here:

3. How people can contribute to the cause of Sprout?

For this event, the focus is all about our local farmers, our local produce, urban farming and all things healthy, eco, green and sustainable. We hope for Singaporeans to support all our participating exhibitors, to support local, to eat local and hopefully kickstart and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.

This event aims to provide a vast platform for people from various walks of life, to come together through an accessible, fun and fresh concept and to connect producers and consumers via a multi-sensorial farmto-people festival in the city, and to raise awareness and shine the spotlight on good sustainable food.

Sprout is also supporting the Climate Action campaign through Sustainable Singapore and the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, which aim to raise awareness on the need for individual and collective action to fight climate change for a sustainable Singapore. We will be promoting the Climate Action Pledge for everyone to support and embody the rising need to take action today.

Even after the event is over, we will be providing the convenience for people to buy local produce from our e-marketplace partner Sproutfore, to enjoy good sustainable food all year round!
