Yr. 1996: I was a student that time, learning Information Technology…Once, when I came home after class, my mom handed me one beautiful postcard especially sent to me by my maternal uncle. The postcard was full of encouragement, appreciation and motivation for me to do even better! Wow, what an amazing feeling to receive little happy hand-written surprises from loved ones in the form of postcards and letters. In fact, back then a few of us had Gal Pals who were actually Pen Pals from different countries.
Yr. 2016: All the best for Exams, Birthday Wishes, Wedding wishes, Congratulations for Childbirth?? Simple, Send email or send message on handphone or wish on social media site…everything is done so fast now! Or should I say too fast?? Lightening fast media to convey our feelings are available now-a-days. No surprise, direct communication!
Remembered all those good old days when letters and postcards were main channel of communication. Nostalgic after watching this video!
Thank God, Giftopia by Sample Store is here. To travel us back in those happy days where we used to use traditional means for reaching out to our loved ones. I bet you would love the beautiful thought behind Giftopia Movement – If you love someone, convey that love in the most personalized manner by sending them hand-written postcard. Believe me, in the sand of time, emails and all will vanish one day but these paper memories will still be found somewhere in your cupboard and in your hearts. ♥♥♥
It’s so easy to be a part of something as novel, as creative as Giftopia and Spread love!
There are total 24 postcards in Giftopia and they all are pre-paid means you just write the message straight from the heart, write the address and send it to your loved ones. ♥♥♥
Shhh, there is a secret message hidden in all 24 postcards. Find it and win attractive prizes. Wow!
Times changed and so do we! Technology brought the much-needed speed and E-MAILS replaced SNAIL EMAIL. Good and Bad – will the current generation of our kids will know the fun behind getting letters and postcards? or will they have to be content with the emails, messengers etc.?
As a mom, I always keep on wondering that where exactly technology is leading us? We are becoming more and more tech-savvy which is of course fun. But the old world charm of postcards, hand-written letters is also something we MUST experience.
Decided to throw this question to my 10-year old daughter! I showed her Sample Store’s Giftopia Post Cards, told her that they pre-paid and asked her to tell her honest opinions about what she feels about Giftopia. What she said surprised me actually! For New Generation or our generation, love is timeless and expression of that love is still preferred in the traditional way. Giftopia is a movement we all should participate in – young or old…
To spread and celebrate love through Giftopia movement, Sample Store had special event on 15th and 16th October in Raffles City Mall and it turned out to be one helluva event!
I spotted (and bought) some uniquely amazing products made right in Singapore. From handmade flowers to key-rings to stuffed toys…Quality and Classy.
My photos will speak more about the exciting Giftopia event. I saw lots of people visiting and enjoying the event ♥♥♥
There were contests, there were lucky draws…and some pampering treats for all! Example: I got my Gel Manicure done at VanidaySG booth.
Have a look at some amazing products right from Face Masks to Jewellery to Probiotics in Cleaning!! Special mention to Beauty Keeper – leading brand that came all the way from Taiwan to pamper Sample Store Giftopia visitors.

What a fun and meaningful movement. Nothing beats receiving a handwritten note. I still write my own thank you cards these days.
Bringing back handwritten notes! Love it.
I am just simply in love with the idea of everything being very personalized. From the post card to the handcrafts, I am loving all of it.
The event looks interesting ! I wish i’m at Singapore too ~

What a great initiative! I love receiving thoughtful, hand written notes and cards too 🙂
Those were the days we still send birthday cards, Christmas cards and postcards, and write a snail mail. These days, people just text or post their wishes on FB. Nothing bad about this in this digital world but it is always good to bring bk some old memories? 🙂
I love sending my friends post card for their birthday during school time, maybe I should do it again now, will check out the Giftopia 🙂
I like to receive beautiful postcard from other place too
it will sometimes encouraging to me and very happy when you have a lot of friends from other country 🙂
Love this concept by Giftopia. I personally think that hand written small gift meant much for the one you writing to =D
giftopia sounds great. send little things like these would brighten up anyone’s day!
I remember during my College days, my friends and I would head to Pandayan bookstore to check books and postcards. Good old days!
That’s an amazing gift idea! Really love postcard writings too…it’s a rare practice these days

Several good idea to send a gift! i specially like the postcard one =D
I remember the days when I looked forward to the arrival of the postman every day. I missed the time when I received snail mail from my pen pals from all over the world. The smell of paper, that’s just no longer available in emails.
What a great program for reminding us how sweet the old traditional way of communication back then. I actually miss this kind of communication
The video is so meaningful! Flashed back so much memories of the good old times and it meant alot to everyone! So good to be showered with so much beauty products! haha
Seeing events like this really make me smile! Would love to see Giftopia happen in Manila 😀
That sounds like a innovative idea. Few months the bloggera of our city decided to do something similar. We did a chain mail kinda thing to get that nostalgic feel of receiving a hand written letter.
That’s a great initiative. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the event. Many of my blogger friends went to that event too and love it! Hope to see you in person one day!
Very nostalgic, I remember the days when I received hand written notes weekly, and it gives me that unique happiness. Giftopia is a good idea, especially this holiday season!
Memories are good to think about when you look back to the olden days. Some unforgotten times are just part of us we can’t forget in our lives.
Love the cards! Gonna get my free samples if there are any.
This post reminded me of a time back in elementary to college when I used to write letters and send Hallmark cards to friends from all over! I’m glad it’s back. Sending and receiving real letters, postcards, cards are still way better than simply sending an email or e-card. 🙂
aww, i had to give this event a miss because i had something on. the event looks nice! and when i was young (in sec school and jc) i used to collect postcards and use them to write notes to my classmates. it was so much fun!
I love the handcrafted creations. It’s nice to see how giftopia helps connect people.
Giftopia sounds awesome! I also take part in Postrcossing.com wherein I create an account then I get addresses abroad where I can send my postcards. Once they register the postcard they receive from me, another member will also get my address so they can send me a postcard. And it goes on and on. I like this form of communication wherein I get to do or write something and then I also receive a physical object.
i truly miss receiving traditional mails.. used to have lotsa pen-pals all around the world and i even miss all the raya cards that are sent to the house!
this is so good, thanks for sharing! the youtube is so.. touching
Meaningful post! brings back my memories to when I love making cards to my friends during festive (CNY, birthday and etc) season. I remember how happy I was when receiving cards and post cards from friends and loved ones. I never fail to keep the cards and post cards. So gratifying when I re-read them. I like the Giftopia movement and would check it out soon. 🙂
Great and meaningful post! It reminded me of how I used to like to make my own cards during festive seasons when I was still in my middle school. I still remember how excited and happy I was when I received letters from my PLKN friends and also middle school friends. Eventually we stopped but I like how Giftopia movement is bringing the idea back to our ever so busy lives.
It is indeed a great initiative and event was super amazing with all the good stuff.
The postcards looks really great! 🙂 Such a great way to bring back the old days where people used to send hand-written letters instead of email/sms
It still feels special to receive a card or a letter by snailmail. Even a postcard is very gratifying to receive. I recall when I still had a penfriend and looked forward to letters coming. I guess most of the snail mail we receive nowadays are bills. 🙁
You are right – your post transported me back to those days when we used to spend hours trying to find cards with perfect greetings. I used to have a wall in my room covered with all the cards I got. Such good times!
The photographs of all the handmade stuff are so adorable! I really wish that we go back to times when people used to put so much of thought and effort in buying and selecting gifts!
I like the idea 🙂 I remember it was time when I was just crazy about writing and sending letters to my writing pen-pals all over the world 🙂 Now? It’s not so common but like I know things in life came back – what was popular many years ago, will be popular again one day just maybe in a little bit different way 🙂
I as well remember way back that my brother usually received a post card from her sponsor in the USA where we usually excited to wait for it during his birthday and during December. Giftopia is sound interesting and would eventually gain back how we usually extend our appreciation and encouragement to the people who are somehow close to our heart and yet far to us.
