I love Thai food. What keeps me away from enjoying Thai food sometimes is the fact that am a vegetarian and it is not that easy to get vegetarian Thai food in Singapore. So when I got the media tasting invite for Spicy Thai Thai Cafe, I was not so sure whether I would get anything to taste other than desserts and drinks.
Surprise surprise, they actually served pure vegetarian portions for me. Gawd, hot hot spicy spicy tasty Thai food I must say! ♥
Spicy Thai Thai cafe comes under the category of food places that are hidden gems in the quaint neighborhoods of Singapore. Located on 115, Aljunjed Avenue 2, Spicy Thai Thai is 3-years old. Also, the food here is a bit different in style compared to the usual Thai food. It has its origin in Isan, North Thailand. Farmers there used to eat more spicy food with glutenous rice to keep them full and energetic for longer duration.
The ambiance of the restaurant is simple, traditional Thai-style. Don’t expect too fancy decor here. The staff is very friendly and customer-oriented. The moment I entered, they showed me menu and asked if I would like to have any drink. Go to Thai restaurant and don’t drink Lemongrass drink? Can’t be!! I had some warm lemongrass – soothing, not-too-sweet – just the way I like.
Later, when my fellow bloggers joined, the food started arriving…Piping hot, fresh spread was inviting all of us to give justice!
Vegetarian choices:
Feel free to tell them that you are a vegetarian and Spicy Thai Thai Cafe will be glad to make special orders for you. Vegetables, Salads, Side dishes and Rice options they will customize for you. No meat, no seafood, no fish sauce, no fish oil…so safe for vegetarians’ consumption according to me.
Papaya Salad:
It was devilishly delicious! The red bits of chilli, shredded papaya, crushed garlic and whole peanuts – generally they add peanut powder in other thai restaurants but I liked whole peanuts more…I can take spicy food so for me it was a treat! Those of you who cannot take too much spicy food, tell the staff in advance what degree of spicy you want. They would make it less spicy to suit your palate.
Olive Fried Rice:
Niicceee! I could taste that typical olive rice taste, the portion was big enough for 3 pax actually and rice was soft to eat. Good good.
Mushroom Tempura:
Calories be damned! This fried item how to resist? I liked it.
Deep Fried Kang Kong:
Another Fried beauty which you must try. This dish is quite popular among cafe-goers.
Eggetarian choices:
Thai Dill Omelette (Cha Om):
Made from egg and dill, this tastes delicious and full of dill flavor.
Seafood and Meat Lovers, you have loads to try:
I didn’t personally try these dishes but my fellow bloggers tried and liked. I just clicked some pics and videos and looking at pics, I am sure, the taste must be yum too. Check this video and tell me which one looks like your fav!!
The complete spread that was served:
Dessert Time:
The dessert selection is not very comprehensive in Spicy Thai Thai Cafe but sufficiently Thai I would say! The usual Red Ruby, Lemongrass Jelly and very famous Tapioca in coconut milk made their presence felt. We topped up the experience by this cool Thai Young Coconut! Heavenly…

Hey… Good to know… I’m a veggie too and yes, its a pain when you get a chance to try out international cuisine and the hotel has way less varieties. Good you have so many varieties here!
I can’t resist Thai and spicy food, good prices too!
The food looks great and it seems like it’s really value for money! Will share it with my vegetarian friends!

YUM! Love Thai Food it doesn’t matter if it’s spicy 😀
I love Thai food but not really the very spicy ones. We were just in Chiang Mai last holidays and the food there in the Northern part of Thailand was really spicy, haha! I am surprised that Kang Kong is also called Kang Kong there. I thought that was only a Filipino word.
I love spicy food. I am sure to love the food choices here. They all look so tasty.
the prices look very reasonable!! gotta check this out.. I miss my spicy Thai food haha
