June holidays can’t get better than this!! Kids and adults are in for a treat because…
SHREK THE MUSICAL, based on the Oscar®-winning DreamWorks Animation film is coming to Singapore for the very first time as part of its first ever international tour!!
As described by USA Today, this “BIG FAT HIT!” will be playing at the MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands for a limited season only from 8 June 2016. We all have watched Shrek in movies and how amazing it will be to watch it live on stage.
Yes, you guessed it right…SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the Oscar® – winning DreamWorks Animation film that started it all. This live adaptation brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to the stage. In a far away kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey that does not keep quiet, a villain with a short temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek.
SHREK THE MUSICAL credits:
- book and lyrics by Pulitzer Prize® winner David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole, Good People)
- Music by Olivier Award-winner Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline, or Change)
- Choreography by Chris Bailey
- Directed by Stephen Sposito who served as Associate Director of the Broadway revival How to Succeed in Business starring Daniel Radcliff.
- Costumes are the Tony Award® winner designs by Tim Hatley (Private Lives, Spamalot).
This production of SHREK THE MUSICAL is produced by Broadway Entertainment Group FZ LLC and NETworks Presentations, LLC and presented by BASE Entertainment Asia.

Now this is something the entire family would enjoy. My daughter would love this. We loved the movie and I actually own them all and you can never have enough of Shrek and Fiona, or even Donkey and Puss. 🙂
I prefer musicals like Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, or the upcoming Wicked; which I had watched it before. Not a fan of Shrek. Cartoon version is much better in my opinion.
Great that your children enjoyed it though!
I miss shrek movies, I believe the musical must me very entertaining. All the best to the participants.
This looks like such a fun show especially for kids! I’ve always liked Shrek so this must be quite enjoyable 😀
Shrek is so cute and look forward to watch this show. I am sure kids can’t wait for it.
Shrek has always been one of my favorites. And Fiona too. Yes I also remember the musical here in Manila a few years back and we were able to catch it then. And it was awesome. I am sure audiences will have a blast with this musical playing in Singapore in June.
Did Princess Fiona turn green and into Shrek? I usually prefer the originals, but this look really sweet and fun! I guess the kids will really love it.
Somehow I’m not a big fan of Shrek. Infact as a part of the Madame Tussauds here, there’s also a Shrek’s Adventure. Somehow never felt like going there. Kids would love it though.
Shrek has one of the best and unique story lines. It would be great to watch a musical.
Kids will surely enjoy ths one. I remember seeing Shrek when I visited Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California. I had a photo taken with Shrek at the theme park. Since I’m a tiny woman, he was playful, as if I was a child. I like the Shrek animated movies as well so I’m sure this musical will be a hit.
The movies were awesome, so I’m sure this musical is just as delightful. I love that it’s a musical, musicals are always more entertaining and fun to watch. I sure hope there’s something like that where I live!
sounds like an exciting and fun musical to attend! but the shrek seems oddly elongated. hahaha, was it due to camera angle?
This musical was staged here in Manila by a local theater company back in 2014, and it was fantastic. The actors were really very good. I wonder if it will be this same cast that would perform there in Singapore? Here was my review of the show: http://3xhcch.blogspot.com/2014/10/review-of-atlantis-shrek-musical-ogre.html
